Laminated Glass & Safety Glass

Laminated Glass & Safety Glass is a multi-layer safety glass consisting of glass plies bonded by a polymer interlayer. It is relevant to technical, architectural and precision glass components. For HANS, the machining focus is cutting, edge grinding, drilling, lapping and polishing, with tooling selected around the material’s hardness, brittleness, geometry and required surface condition.
Machining Challenges
The glass/interlayer stack can chip, delaminate, load tools and produce uneven edge quality if cutting parameters are not controlled.
Recommended Diamond Tool Solutions
Use diamond saws and edge-grinding wheels selected for laminated stacks, with controlled feed and coolant. Separate glass-edge finishing from polymer/interlayer trimming where practical.
