Tungsten Carbide (WC)

Tungsten Carbide (WC) is a cemented carbide combining hard WC grains with a metallic binder for cutting tools, dies and wear parts. It is relevant to cutting tools, dies, inserts and wear-resistant components. For HANS, the machining focus is precision grinding, lapping and edge finishing, with tooling selected around the material’s hardness, brittleness, geometry and required surface condition.

Machining Challenges

High hardness and carbide/binder heterogeneity can cause edge chipping, wheel loading and thermal damage during aggressive grinding.

Recommended Diamond Tool Solutions

Use resin-, metal- or hybrid-bond diamond grinding wheels matched to stock removal and finish requirements, followed by fine diamond lapping/polishing where needed.
