Carbon Fiber / CFRP

Carbon Fiber / CFRP is a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer composite used for lightweight high-stiffness structures. It is relevant to aerospace, transportation and high-performance structural components. For HANS, the machining focus is cutting, trimming, drilling and edge finishing, with tooling selected around the material’s hardness, brittleness, geometry and required surface condition.

Machining Challenges

Abrasive fibers, anisotropy, delamination, fiber pull-out and heat-sensitive resin can reduce cut quality and tool life.

Recommended Diamond Tool Solutions

Use sharp electroplated or sintered diamond saws, routers and drills with low runout, controlled feed and effective dust extraction/cooling. Prioritize clean trimming and delamination control rather than polishing.
